Managing local government is becoming increasingly complex, requiring more time and expertise. The Technical Services Program exists to provide technical assistance to town officials on a range of activities. More detailed information on several topics can be found using the links in the toolbar to the left of this page. In addition, we have helped towns with grant writing and administration, special studies, surveys, group facilitation and budgeting.

The time that it takes for us to respond to your inquiry will depend on our current volume of work and the complexity of the issue. Our goal is to respond to inquiries within a day or two. Schedules for projects requiring more time will be worked out with town officials. Our general practice is to operate on a first-come, first-served basis, but we will accomodate urgent needs.
The Regional Commission has a services policy outlining how services are to be provided and what, if any, the costs will be for certain kinds of work. Telephone consultations and many basic services are free of charge. Projects requiring significant amounts of time will be billed on an hourly rate. The Regional Commission may also contract with your town for services on a lump-sum or not-to-exceed basis.
The Technical Services Program of the Regional Commission is not a new program, and has evolved over the years to respond to new challenges and funding opportunities. Your ideas of how the Regional Commission can be more effective in our goals of providing assistance to towns are always welcome.
